Cee’s Share Your World – October 9, 2017, questions and my responses.

1. What do you consider is the most perfect food for you? (It can be your favorite food to something extremely healthy.)

I have several most favorite foods. I naturally crave for cooked green vegetables. I feel uncomfortable and dry internally when I don’t have that on a regular basis. Perhaps it’s the habit my body is used to when I was growing up. Since April this year, my husband has been making the green smoothie with kale, celery, carrots, mint, parsley, mixed berries, and cinnamon. I have the green drink every day. As far as having cooked vegetable, my husband cooks mushrooms every day except weekends when we may eat out. A couple other healthy foods I have regularly are avocados and bananas.

2. Are you focused on today or tomorrow?

I am only focused on today even though I do make plans for tomorrow. I am here in Portland, Oregon with my daughter who just gave birth to her baby daughter eleven days ago. Will took two weeks off from work. I came to spend three weeks with her. Whenever she thought of the time when she is alone taking care of the baby, she gets scared. She tries to practice doing things by herself now to prepare what would be happening two weeks from now. She ended up feeling anxious and frustrated. Yet it takes more effort to take care of a one-week-old baby versus a three-week-old baby. Will and I let her know not to worry about things that might or might not happen two weeks from now.

Baby Autumn is making such great progress that she could stretch to a four-hour sleep last night, whereas she woke up every two hours a week ago. Mercy is encouraged today to find out from the doctor’s visit that baby Autumn not only caught up with her birth weight but gained additional two ounces. Now Mercy doesn’t have to wake up every two hours to feed the baby.

3. If you could interview one of your great-great-great grandparents, who would it be (if you know their name) and what would you ask?

My maiden name is Lee. Lee is the second largest Chinese surname in China. I don’t even have the slightest idea of how to do a family tree on my side of the family. I remember my grandma on my mom’s side. My parents went back to China during WWII and lived with my grandma. My grandma went to Hong Kong with my parents when the War was over. I would ask her what the life was like in China during WWII.

  1. Just a note also, if she hasn’t already thought about a new mom’s support group, that was super-helpful for me even on my 2nd and 3rd baby! Here in Seattle we have PEPS, and just a quick Google search yielded this link to some potential resources: Also, sometimes the childbirth classes will morph into new parent support groups, if she and Will went through that training. And, one more: 🙂

  2. Miriam, your granddaughter is a bundle of cuteness and she has a lovely name, Autumn. How apt 🙂 I can say I love Autumn now and it would mean your joy too! Heh.

Like you, I love my greens too and I too tend to have a lot of green smoothies and salads. The body feels the goodness of them.

Your grandma’s memories would have been interesting to hear. Such stories she must have in her kitty… xx

  3. Oh my gosh the baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So beautiful! And the baby can now sleep 4 hours! How wonderful so mommy and everyone else can get some more sleep! Knowing your baby regained her birthweight is always a load off. I was nursing and it took 10 days for my milk to come in so she did not gain her birth weight back quickly but then I look at pictures of her at 3 months old and she was in the 100th percentile for weight! Anyway. I’m so glad you can be there. Thank you for sharing

    • Oh yes, Beth. It took Mercy 3 days to have her milk. Today is the 10th day, her milk is gushing as soon as she holds the baby. I have been quite busy. One blogger noticed that I’m not making too many posts. I do two or three a week and barely keeping in touch. I didn’t comment on your posts as I used to. I’m glad you visited my post and found out about the baby. Hope things are going well with you!!!

      • Oh the old days! I remember when I had more milk than I could imagine but that first week I was so worried and got no sleep. First 2 weeks actually.
I saw you weren’t making posts so I had to check! I’m so glad I did. Seeing the baby. Oh how it made my day. I am just so happy that you are all there together. She is so lucky to have you there!
10 days….she must still be very exhausted. It took me a good month to feel like I MAY be able to have a decent conversation. The sleep deprivation caught up to me. But I didn’t have a sweet mommy like you to help out.
Things are ok here. My daughter turned 21 so that was the big news of the week.
