Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Columns and Vertical Line(s)

In August 2016, my husband and I traveled to Spain for our 20th Anniversary. We joined a tour to visit Madrid, Toledo, Seville, Cordoba, Granada, Valencia and Barcelona. I did several posts about our travel right after we came back. I love the architecture in Spain. For this post, I show several photos of columns and vertical lines.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Windows

This is a re-post I did on January 9, 2017. We went to Spain in August 2016 and visited Madrid, Toledo, Córdoba, Seville, Granada, Valencia and Barcelona. The architecture of Cathedrals were impressive. The stained glass windows were magnificent. These are several of the many photos taken during our enjoyable visit.

Weekly Photo Challenge – Architectural Structure, Valencia Spain

When we were at Valencia, Spain, we visited the most amazing, contemporary, and futuristic structures designed by the Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava Valls. He is a Spanish neofuturistic architect, structural engineer, sculptor and painter. His design is so refreshing compared with the traditional Spanish architecture.

WRITESPIRATION #124 52 WEEKS IN 52 WORDS WEEK 28

writespiration-2017

Sacha Black’s theme for this week is: “The Holiday”

week28

We went to Spain last year. It was during a local holiday. The weather was hot. The local people all went to the beach. The tour guide was happy that there was no regular traffic on the road. We had smooth and fast drive from one city to another. What a trip!

THURSDAY’S SPECIAL: PORTRAIT VS. LANDSCAPE

“Today you are invited to post a portrait and landscape format of the same scene. You may be surprised at how much different they look and what each one reveals. That’s the only requirement for this challenge.” – Paula at Lost in Translation

Here are my portrait and landscape of the same scene at Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba, Spain.

Tuesday Photo Challenge – Street

Frank’s theme this week is Street.

When I first watched the movie “The Italian Job,” those narrow streets fascinated me. I was so impressed by the drivers maneuvered the Mini Coopers through those narrow streets.

Our trip to Spain allowed me to visit those narrow streets. Some streets did have cars going up and down, except that the pedestrians must be very attentive when cars going through.

This street took us to The MosqueCathedral of Córdoba also known as the Great Mosque of Córdoba.

In Valencia, we had an afternoon free. We were roaming on the street to find a restaurant for an early dinner.

We were on this street before visiting the Cave Houses – houses that are constructed inside of caves.

Look Up at the Structure

dome-mosquit-of-cordoba

When we were in Seville, Spain, we visited The Great Mosque in Córdoba.  The former Islamic Mosque structure was built by the Umayyad ruler ʿAbd ar-Raḥmān in 784–786. In the 13th century, it was converted into a Christian Cathedral. Its Moorish character was altered in the 16th century, with the interior of a central High Altar and Cruciform Choir. The designs of the Dome of The Mihrah, and the Hypostyle Hall are incredible.
